Kyoto: A street for foodies! “NISHIKI ICHIBA” (Market)

Nishiki Ichiba (market) has been ruining for over seven hundred years and many shops have been operated by the same families for generations. The place is loved by the local people as their Kyoto’s kitchen.
There are about 130 shops for vegetables, seafood, dried food and sweets on narrow streets under the 400 meters arcade.

You might get small sample dishes when you are stopped by a shop. Some of the shops provide eat-in space, a couple of chairs or a bar table so that you can buy ready made food and enjoy freshly cooked food here.

The market requests people not to eat while walking as it’s considered bad manner.
